|George Duncan Van Patter
January 10, 1921 - May 9, 1944
George Duncan Van Patter was born in Malahide Twp., Elgin, Ontario,
Canada and died on May 9, 1944 in Buwmwan, Bengal, India.
George worked in the family dairy business until 1942 when he enlisted in
the R.C.A.F. He received training at Aylmer, Mont Joli and in Bermuda.
before being posted to Squadron #357 in India. His Liberator aircraft
#BZ923 was returning from a special operation (dropping paratroopers over
Burma) when it ran out of fuel and crashed one mile west of the Buwmwan
Railway Station, Bengal. George died of his injuries two days later and was
buried in the European Railway Cemetery, Asansol, Bengal then reburied
later in the War Cemetery at Delhi, India.
